VinFast Auto the electric vehicle (EV) arm of Vietnamese conglomerate Vin group, which marked a sales figure of $1,096.9 million (INR Rs 89,950.8 million) globally, previous year, holding a growth rate of 374% comparatively, announced its India entry by 2025 as a part of company’s worldwide expansion strategy.
Currently, VinFast operates only in Vietnam as a manufacturer and exports to several countries, including the United States, Canada, and various European markets. But with its upcoming expansion plans, Vietnamese automaker will soon have a presence in about 50 countries, which includes the key markets like India, Indonesia, Thailand and Philippines, allowing further extension of the brand’s reach into Southeast Asia.
VinFast’s India entry will led it to obtain its second manufacturing plant as the Vin group decides to invest around INR Rs 164 billion in the Indian state of Tamilnadu to set up a full-fledged manufacturing facility. Construction on the plant has already begun in February, funded by an initial investment of INR Rs 41 billion.
Since, 2022 regulating as a fully electric passenger’s mobility (EV) brand, VinFast’s entry into World’s third largest automarket, oversees an approval as the brand’s recent launches, sightseeing has been noticed on Indian roads. As per the sources, VinFast’s SUV offering, VF e34, speculated to be the Automaker’s first model for India launch, has been spied testing in multiple Indian cities in its production ready spec.
VF e34:
Drawing power from a 41.9 kwh battery source, the VF e34 is over 4.3 metres SUV, featuring an extended wheelbase of 2.6 metres. This battery pack claims a total range of upto 318 km (NEDC) on a single charge. The electric motor, delivers the power of 147.948 bhp and peak torque of 242 Nm. These figures could vary for the VF e34 with the India’s introduction.
The Indian spec of VF e34 impresses in the technology department, as the expectations revolve around, offering a comprehensive array of futuristic features. These include a 360-degree camera, rear AC vents, climate control system, cooled glove box, wireless charger, a fully digital 9.0-inch instrument cluster and a vertically stacked 10.0-inch infotainment screen that supports connected car technology as well as wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay.
Additionally, the cabin boasts a 6-speaker surround sound system, auto-dimming IRVM, and ADAS level 1 capabilities. However, concerns arise regarding the lack of electronic adjustment options for the front seats adjustability and a sunroof. Moreover the Indian version of the VF e34 is not expected to change much, in comparison to the international model in terms of overall design and aesthetics.
VinFast, is manufacturer of both two-wheelers and four-wheelers in the electric vehicle sector,
is contemplating whether to enter the Indian market primarily as a four-wheeler automaker or potentially as both, which remains uncertain.
