UP Reopens EV Subsidy Portal
The Uttar Pradesh Transport Department has reopened its portal for EV subsidies. This scheme allows residents to enjoy significant savings on electric vehicle purchases. According to recent reports, the new subsidy scheme is set to benefit over 50,000 people in the state.
Available Subsidies
Users can enjoy the following subsidies:
- Two-Wheelers: Up to Rs 5,000
- Four-Wheelers: Up to Rs 1 Lakh
- E-Buses: Up to Rs 20 Lakh
- E-Goods Carriers: Up to Rs 1 Lakh
The state is offering these subsidies to promote the adoption of electric vehicles across different segments.
How to Apply
To apply for the subsidy, car owners need to visit the Uttar Pradesh Electric Vehicle Purchase Subsidy Portal at upevsubsidy.in. The application must be submitted by the dealer, not the buyer directly. Each user is eligible to apply for a subsidy on only one vehicle.
Guidelines for Aggregators and Fleet Operators
Fleet operators and aggregators can apply for subsidies as well but with some limitations. They can claim subsidies for:
- Up to 10 Two-Wheelers or Four-Wheelers
- Up to 5 E-Goods Carriers or E-Buses

Applicants need the following documents to apply:
- Aadhaar Card
- Photograph
- Bank Account Details
Assistant Transport Commissioner Naresh Kumar has encouraged buyers to take advantage of the subsidy while purchasing an EV.
Exclusions
E-rickshaws are not eligible for the subsidy. Despite their widespread adoption, e-rickshaws have been excluded from addressing the mobility challenges they present in urban areas.

Uttar Pradesh EV Sales
Between April and July 2024, 7,748 electric vehicles were sold in Uttar Pradesh. From April 2023 to March 2024, 82,093 EVs were sold. The reintroduction of subsidies is expected to boost these numbers further.
