VLF Tennis electric scooter is one of the key forcers for change in the Indian electric vehicle (EV) landscape. Scheduled to be launched in the 2024 festive season, this Italian brand’s entry into the Indian market reflects a diversifying competition in the EV sector. It reflects the changing consumer taste towards all things stylish and sustainable mobility.
Strategic Entry by VLF
VLF is the brand that is famous for its concept designs and performance-based automobiles. It has agreed to join hands with KAW Veloce Motors, to form an manufacture unit in Kolhapur, Maharashtra. This strategic step will observe localized production wherein the Tennis scooter will be made.
“In a very competitive and ever-evolving market, we must create products that are fashionable with personality,” says Alessandro Tartarini, founder of VLF.

“With VLF, we hope to give Indian consumers a variety of electric scooters whose design and performance would stand out from the crowd,” continued Tushar Shelke, MD of KAW Veloce Motors. Every VLF product is unique from the competition and has its own design language.
Challenges Ahead
The outlook is promising for VLF, but it still has many tough challenges to face in a highly competitive landscape. The brand needs to arrange a well-strong dealer network at tier 1 and tier 2 cities for the convenience of potential customers. Plans are already under way to establish 15 dealerships before the end of 2024. With an aim to enlarge up to 50 by March 2025.
Good after-sales service will determine Indian customers’ loyalty to the brand since Indian customers often pick vehicles based on the available good service networks. Collaboration with the local service providers would improve customer satisfaction with the brand and increase trust with the brand.
As the Indian government encourages electric vehicles by providing incentives, such as facilitating EV adoption through the Faster Adoption and Manufacturing of Hybrid and Electric Vehicles (FAME) scheme, adaptation to local regulations will be difficult for VLF.
ELCTRIK Speaks
Launching the tennis scooter is an exciting development in India’s electric vehicle sector. With aspirational branding, local manufacturing, new-age technology, and a focus on understanding consumer needs. VLF has all the makings to establish its own niche within several competing ventures. The approaching festive season of 2024 will be an all-star watch for VLF as, from this vantage point, it stands at a crossroads where it can redefine consumer choices.
