Tata Power, a leading electric vehicle (EV) charging solutions provider, has reached a significant milestone in Mumbai by transitioning more than 1000 of its EV charging points to operate on green energy.
MUMBAI: Tata Power, a prominent player in electric vehicle (EV) charging solutions, has reached a notable achievement in Mumbai. They have successfully converted over 1000 EV charging points in the city to operate on green energy.
“This transition marks a pivotal moment in promoting sustainable mobility in Mumbai,” stated a senior spokesperson on Wednesday. “With the rapid rise in electric vehicles on Mumbai’s streets, currently exceeding 10,000 four-wheelers, Tata Power has taken proactive steps to establish a robust EV charging infrastructure throughout the city.”
Presently, Mumbai boasts over 1000 green charging points, distributed across 44 public locations, 385 residential societies, 58 commercial venues such as malls, hotels, and workplaces, along with 531 fleet charging points. These strategically positioned charging stations ensure convenient accessibility for EV owners.
Moreover, Tata Power has extended its charging network along major highways, facilitating seamless intercity travel for electric vehicle users. Collaborating with EV charging service providers, they have installed charging points at renowned residential societies including Rustomjee Oriana, Rustomjee Elanza, Lodha The Park, Kalpataru Pinnacle, Lodha Primero, and The Reserve by Runwal.
Tata Power has also prioritized enhancing intercity travel by deploying fast charging points along popular routes. Presently, there are 19 fast charging points on the Mumbai-Pune highway and 26 on the Mumbai-Goa (via Pune) highway. With a comprehensive network spanning over 475 cities and towns, Tata Power offers diverse charging solutions for home users, public and semi-public locations, and bus fleets, boasting over 73,000 home chargers, 5,300+ public, semi-public, and fleet charging points, and 690+ bus charging stations.
“Tata Power’s dedication to green energy transcends Mumbai. They have outlined plans to install an additional 4000 charging points across Maharashtra gradually. The objective is to not only expand the EV charging infrastructure’s reach but also ensure its sustenance through 100% renewable energy sources. This initiative resonates with Tata Power’s ‘Sustainable Is Attainable’ movement, positioning them as trailblazers in advocating a greener tomorrow,” affirmed an official.
“By prioritizing renewable energy sources for EV charging, Tata Power is not only facilitating eco-friendly transportation but also setting a precedent for sustainability within the energy sector. This strategic shift is anticipated to inspire other regions to embrace similar environmentally conscious initiatives,” he concluded.
