Maruti Suzuki has formally started exporting its maiden battery electric vehicle. The Suzuki e Vitara, from India, which is a huge moment for the automaker as well as India’s global EV aspirations.
Suzuki e-Vitara: First Shipment and Export Details
The exports began in August 2025. With more than 2,900 e Vitara units exported from Pipavav Port in Gujarat to 12 European nations. Including the United Kingdom, Germany, France, Norway, Denmark, Switzerland, Netherlands, Sweden, Hungary, Iceland, Austria, and Belgium. The first batch marks the beginning of Maruti Suzuki’s drive to make India a world hub for the manufacturing of electric vehicles.
Launch Event and Government Support
Prime Minister Narendra Modi was present on the 26th of August 2025. At a function in Maruti Suzuki’s plant at Hansalpur, Gujarat. Marking the launch of the production of e Vitara and terming Maruti Suzuki as a “brand ambassador of the ‘Make in India’ programme”. The vehicle is set to be launched over 100 international markets in addition to its Indian launch by early 2026.
Main Features of Suzuki e-Vitara
Based on the new HEARTECT-e EV platform. The e Vitara is equipped with state-of-the-art technology, safety, and performance. The variant will be offered in Delta, Zeta, and Alpha and will come with battery capacities. Up to 61 kWh and a reported over 500 km range on full charge. The vehicle had already been seen in Milan as well as at the Bharat Mobility Global Expo in New Delhi.
Future Outlook and Expansion
With the Hansalpur plant’s annual production capacity of 750,000 vehicles. Planned with a capacity of 1 million units. Maruti Suzuki aims to export 50,000–100,000 e Vitara vehicles annually. Maruti Suzuki’s overall exports rose by 40% in August 2025, underscoring increasing global demand for Indian automotive technology.
