Key Highlights
After introducing the Thar Roxx in India, Mahindra Auto is making significant progress in diversifying its portfolio. The company is set to introduce a range of electric vehicles, beginning with the XUV.e8 (with license plate number XUV700), which has been spotted in a near-production state. These spy shots reveal the car’s interior and the substantial triple-screen layout it will feature. Let’s delve into the details.
Mahindra XUV.e8 EV Interior Revealed
Mahindra Auto, one of India’s leading car manufacturers, is expanding its product lineup with innovative electric vehicles based on the newborn-electric INGLO platform. The company has unveiled five new electric vehicles under the BE and XUV.e sub-brands.
The first of these upcoming electric vehicles is expected to be the XUV.e8, an electrified version of the XUV700 ICE SUV currently available in the market. The Mahindra XUV700 EV test mules have been frequently spotted, indicating intensified testing. The latest spy shots were captured by automotive enthusiast Deepen Patwa in Nashik.
In terms of design, the Mahindra XUV.e8 closely resembles the XUV700, with anticipated design changes concentrated at the front, featuring a new fascia. The recent spy shots provide a glimpse of the car’s exterior from the side, as well as a sneak peek at the interior.
On the side profile, the Mahindra XUV.e8 electric car showcases new alloy wheels and flush door handles similar to the ones seen on previous test mules. Additionally, a charging port is located at the same position as the fuel filler on the XUV700. The Mahindra XUV700 EV will have an 80 kWh battery and an estimated range of about 500 km.. Previous spy shots have revealed a rear motor on the XUV.e8, suggesting the possibility of a dual-motor all-wheel-drive setup.
A Closer Look at the Triple-Screen Interior
The spy shots reveal a minimally camouflaged dashboard with three 10.25-inch screens taking the center stage. The central screen is the main infotainment interface, supporting touch inputs and wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay projection.
The driver’s display is a non-touch panel providing the car’s instrumentation and select vehicle-related and navigation information. The third screen, a touch panel dedicated to the front passenger, is still shrouded in mystery. It remains to be seen if it will function as an extension of the main infotainment screen, a hybrid of infotainment and instrumentation, or merely a gimmick.
The spy shots suggest it may be showing music or radio controls. Additionally, it’s noteworthy that the driver appears to be operating the instrument screen by touch, which may not be the case.
The upcoming Mahindra XUV.e8 electric vehicle seems quite promising, especially with its innovative triple-screen layout in the interior. The 80 kWh battery and the anticipated 500 km range also make it quite appealing for an electric SUV. It’s exciting to witness Mahindra’s progress in diversifying its portfolio with electric vehicles.ELCTRIK Speaks
