Mahindra & Mahindra Limited unveiled its eagerly awaited Vision T SUV Concept. As part of its Global Vision 2027 event, celebrating Independence Day. With a futuristic foray into the next-generation of auto design. The Vision T is one of four concept SUVs that come aboard Mahindra’s new modular, multi-energy NU_IQ platform. A strategic roadmap to redefine premium SUVs in India and worldwide.
The Vision T Concept
- Platform & Family Relations: The V-T is closely related to the iconic Thar family. Being the refined offshoot of the Thar.e concept that was unveiled in South Africa in 2023.
- Design Language: Adopting Mahindra’s fresh ‘Heartcore’ ideology, it features a tough, boxy profile. Stand-up attitude, squared-off wheel arches, yellow bonnet catches, and visible door hinges. The rear features vertical LED tail lamps and a spare wheel mounted on the tailgate for true off-road credibility.
- Dimensions & Practicality: Based on the NU_IQ monocoque modular platform. The Vision T will reportedly be 3,990mm to 4,320mm long, and have a 2,665mm wheelbase for maximum interior room. Mahindra boasts a class-leading turning radius of 10.3m, which is ideal for city and off-road use.
- Interior Specifications: The tech-savvy cabin will boast a 3-spoke steering wheel that sports the ‘Vision.T’ logo. A tall vertical infotainment touchscreen with climate, a set of physical toggle switches that operate major functions. The starter button is in a particular position on the steering wheel. The car is showcased in a 5-seater setup with a dark cabin color scheme.
Vision T: Powertrain & Engineering
- Multi-Powertrain Ready: While Mahindra hasn’t officially announced production powertrains. The NU_IQ platform accommodates internal combustion engine (ICE), electric (EV), and future hybrid solutions. Along with FWD/AWD drive configurations for versatility across global markets.
- Battery & EV Focus: The Vision T could use high-tech LFP batteries. Which would have technology shared with Mahindra’s BE 6 and XEV 9e electric cars. Its electric credentials are according to changing consumer trends and regulatory directions.
Market Positioning & Price
- Pricing & Launch Timeline: Vision T will be priced in the range of ₹12 lakh and ₹22 lakh (ex-showroom). Production variants of Vision T will start arriving by 2027. Full-fledged launches planned in 2028 in India and some select markets globally.
- Target Audience: Mahindra wishes to appeal to lifestyle SUV fans as well as hardcore off-roaders. Wanting V-T to be a rugged, technology-forward. Strong alternative to the likes of the Mahindra Thar, Thar Roxx, and Force Gurkha.
