Mahindra & Mahindra has unveiled its new concept vehicle, the Vision SXT. At the company’s Freedom NU event, celebrating India’s Independence Day. By taking a leap into the future of electric mobility and adventure cars. This debut was as part of a broader roll-out featuring three other concepts. Vision X, Vision T, and Vision S. That are all based on the firm’s cutting-edge NU IQ platform. The Vision SXT is a revolutionary-styled pickup SUV aimed at merging off-road capabilities and green technology.
Vision SXT: Key Features and Design
- Body Style: The Vision SXT has a distinct pickup-like architecture. Developed from the Thar.e concept. It has a strong, muscular shape, rally-inspired elements. A flatbed to hold dual spare tyres, marking it as the most adventure-oriented concept in Mahindra’s new family.
- Exterior Highlights: At the front, the SXT sports a black rectangular grille. Vertical LED DRLs that function as turn indicators, and large off-road bumpers with a silver skid plate. On the side profile, there are blacked-out door handles and ORVMs, off-road tyres, and aggressive ‘Vision SXT’ logos. At the back, pixel LED taillights and a bulky matte black bumper complete the aggressive look.
- Interior: The interior boasts a contemporary, technology-focussed look with a bold black and orange color theme. Huge vertically-laid touchscreen, physical switches for ease of use. A specialist digital driver’s screen. High-end materials and sophisticated connectivity are on the cards.
- Platform: Developed based on Mahindra’s flexible NU IQ modular platform. The Vision SXT promises to be compatible with a range of powertrains. Petrol, diesel, hybrid, and full electric. The platform accommodates C-segment SUVs with an extended wheelbase. Best-in-class interior space and turning radius, competing with segment champions like Creta and Seltos.
Powertrain & Technology
- Expected Options: Though specific powertrains are yet to be announced. Mahindra has indicated variants such as single-motor RWD (230–250bhp) and dual-motor AWD (300–350bhp) options. Range is expected to be 400–500km for EVs, supported by rapid charging capabilities.
- Off-road Ability: Equipped with class-leading ground clearance, aggressive approach and departure angles, penta-link rear suspension. The Vision SXT is an off-road monster aimed at adventure seekers as well as city buyers.
Vision SXT: Safety & Connected Features
- Safety: Production model will reportedly have Level 2 ADAS, 360° cameras, blind spot monitoring, multiple airbags, and aspire to a 5-star GNCAP and Euro NCAP rating.

Market Position & Availability
- Launch Timeline: The Vision SXT production model is expected to enter markets between late 2027 and early 2028. With base variants priced around ₹30–40 lakh.
