Key Highlights:
Hyundai India, following a less-than-desirable performance with the Kona Electric, is developing a new mid-size all-electric SUV. The company plans to launch the Creta EV, leveraging the success of its best-selling SUV in the country. The official release is scheduled for January 2025, following the launch at the end of this year.
According to our findings, the Creta EV is slated to be constructed on an adapted iteration of the Creta’s K2 Platform instead of being based on an entirely new platform or the Kona’s. This approach will enable the manufacturer to effectively manage costs and facilitate sharing of numerous parts and components between the traditional internal combustion engine (ICE) Creta and the Creta EV.
Specific information about the powertrain, battery pack, and technical specifications for the Creta EV is limited. Nonetheless, it is reasonable to anticipate that the Creta EV may be available with two battery pack choices, providing a range of around 500km. To compare, the Tata Curvv EV is presently available with two battery options – 45kWh and 55kWh, offering claimed driving ranges of 502km and 585km, respectively.
The forthcoming Creta EV will compete directly with the Tata Curvv EV, the Mahindra XUV400, and the BYD Atto 3. Suzuki will unveil its first all-electric vehicle, the eVX, at the Bharat Mobility Expo 2025. The eVX will compete with the Hyundai Creta EV.
The Hyundai Creta EV seems promising with its modified K2 platform. It’s impressive that they’re leveraging the Creta’s success. It will be interesting to learn more about the powertrain and battery pack options. Comparing it with competitors like the Tata Curvv EV and the upcoming Suzuki eVX will be intriguing.ELCTRIK Speaks
