Hyundai Motor India has finally announced the launch of its most-awaited electric SUV, the Creta EV, that is set to hit markets by the end of the year prior to January 2025. This is the first step that the brand intended to ramp up its electric vehicles offerings in the Indian market gradually.
Key Features and Specifications
The EV is set to integrate the favorite design elements of the regular Creta with some of the most innovative electric vehicle technology.
- Design: The EV model is expected to retain the identity of silhouette but with improved versions such as closed front grille, sleek LED headlamps, and new alloy wheels.
- Performance: The electric motor for the EV is likely to produce about 150 bhp, while the range on a single charge would be excellent at around 450 kilometers. The 45 kWh battery pack will probably fuel the Creta.
- Technology: In all likelihood, the SUV will carry the Level 2 Advanced Driver Assistance Systems, a dual-screen infotainment system, and also 360-degree surround camera.
Creta EV: Pricing and variants
The EV will be priced in the range of ₹22 lakh to ₹26 lakh, which will position the vehicle as a prestige category within the electric SUV.
Hyundai India’s managing director, Unsoo Kim was more than elated about the possibility of what this Creta could do. He said: “The Creta EV symbolizes not only our commitment to sustainability but also our commitment to offering innovative solutions that are responding to the dynamic needs of Indian consumers. We believe it is going to change the game in the EV segment.”
Industry Reacts to Creta EV
The announcement has generated much noise within the four-wheeler fraternity. Analysts expect that the Creta launch will spike electric SUV competition in India. Established models like the Tata Curvv EV, and the MG ZS EV have stiff competition coming their way, from new entrants on the block like the Mahindra BE 6e and the Honda Elevate EV.
