Las Vegas, January 8, 2025 — Honda has finally unveiled its game-changing Honda 0 Series at CES 2025. With two sleek prototypes: the Honda 0 Saloon and Honda 0 SUV. This global unveiling marks Honda’s biggest foray yet into the EV market. With a new EV platform developed from the ground up and loaded with next-generation features.
Honda 0 Series: A New Platform, Distinct Identity
The Honda 0 Series is more than a new model series. It’s a complete reimagining of electric mobility. Underpinned by an all-new, purpose-built EV platform. The 0 Series will consist of at least seven models by 2030. Beginning with the Saloon and SUV. Both prototypes will arrive in North America in 2026, followed by Europe and Japan. They are likely to flow into other markets, such as India, in the next few years.
Design and Engineering: “Thin, Light, and Wise”
- Honda 0 Saloon: The leader, with a wedge-shaped, low profile. Emphasis on luxury, sustainability, and cutting-edge engineering. Its ultra-thin battery pack (approximately 8mm thinner than competitors). Light structure optimize interior volume and efficiency.
- Honda 0 SUV: Drawing on the Space Hub concept. The mid-size SUV provides a roomy, versatile cabin with good visibility, vertical windshield, and MPV-inspired rear. The design philosophy provides ample space, contemporary interior for family and urban discoverers.
- Innovative Manufacturing: The 0 Series incorporates advanced manufacturing technology. Such as megacasting and 3D friction stir welding, to minimize weight and maximize structural strength.
Powertrain and Performance
- Drivetrains: RWD and AWD will both be offered, using new compact e-axle motors.
- Power Output: Entry-grade models get a 244hp rear motor, but high-end AWD grades up to 488hp combined.
- Battery and Range: The Saloon will utilize an 80-90kWh NMC battery. With a bigger 100kWh one also on the menu. Honda aims at more than 482km (300 miles, EPA standard) per charge.
- Driving Dynamics: Lightweight design and a low center of gravity ensure responsive, sporty handling, a signature of Honda engineering.
Honda 0 Series: State-of-the-Art Technology
- ASIMO OS: Named after Honda’s legendary humanoid robot. This exclusive operating system acts as the digital intelligence for all 0 Series vehicles. It integrates control of automated driving, infotainment, and vehicle systems, enabling over-the-air (OTA) updates.
- Centralized E&E Architecture: One high-performance ECU controls every vehicle system. Driven by a next-generation SoC that provides best-in-industry AI performance.
- Level 3 ADAS: Both concept vehicles come equipped with Level 3 Advanced Driver Assistance Systems. Allowing for “eyes-off” semi-autonomous driving in specific situations. AI and LiDAR-based technology provide safety and convenience. Honda plans to push these features into all driving scenarios in the future.
Interior and User Experience
- Panoramic Displays: Large digital dashboards with side mirror camera views. A futuristic yoke steering wheel raise the bar on EV interiors.
- Heritage Touches: Digital instrument clusters are able to mimic vintage Honda displays. Even simulate engine noise for purists.
- Personalization: ASIMO OS allows drivers to customize everything from driving dynamics to infotainment, boosting comfort and engagement.
Industry and Market Impact
Honda’s 0 Series unveiling has been welcomed by the industry experts and the press. Who complement the company on its vision of a bespoke EV platform. As opposed to modifying legacy ICE models. The step is viewed as bold reckoning with the global regulatory landscape changes.
“With the Honda 0 Series, we’re going back to our origins. Giving people the fun of driving and freedom of mobility. But this time with zero emissions and ultimate intelligence.” Global CEO Toshihiro Mibe of Honda said.
Honda 0 Series: Looking Ahead\
Honda is set to launch the 0 Series around the world starting in 2026. In India, Honda has been gearing up to introduce a purpose-built EV in the next financial year. With four new models planned for 2025-2027, backed by augmented charging networks.
