Key Highlights
EVage, a commercial electric vehicle manufacturer based in Chandigarh, focuses on establishing a strong presence in India’s EV market by leveraging a vertically integrated technology stack. The company has recently formed a joint venture with DG Innovate, a UK-based motor manufacturer established by ex-Tesla executive Peter Bardenfleth-Hansen. This collaboration aims to develop the world’s most efficient electric motor, achieving an impressive 98.5% efficiency.
Inderveer Singh, Founder and CEO of EVage, emphasized that the partnership with DG Innovate extends beyond motor development. It is geared towards spearheading the global electric vehicle revolution from India, capitalizing on the company’s technology stack and scalable production capabilities to make a widespread impact.
Central to this partnership is EVage’s pioneering EV stack, a unique concept in India that facilitates vehicle production at a significantly reduced cost, space, and labor compared to traditional manufacturing models.
“We own our battery technology, our BMS (Battery Management System), our VCU (Vehicle Control Unit), and even the infotainment system. Everything is designed and developed in-house,” Singh said, emphasising EVage’s complete control over its technology stack. This approach enables EVage to produce an electric truck every 15 minutes.
Groundbreaking Fast-charging Battery
EVage has introduced a groundbreaking battery technology with a 20-minute charging time and a claimed lifespan of up to 12 years. Paired with DG Innovate’s highly efficient motor, EVage’s trucks charge rapidly and operate at peak efficiency. According to Singh, the company offers a 10,000-cycle life warranty, setting a new standard in the industry. Singh also highlighted the motor’s outstanding 98.5% efficiency, surpassing competitors such as Tesla, whose motors operate at around 96% efficiency. These innovations position EVage’s trucks as an attractive choice for logistics operators seeking to minimize downtime and optimize operational efficiency.
EVage is known for its innovative manufacturing model and micro-factory concept, enabling scalable production without requiring substantial capital expenditure. This approach enables the company to customize products while keeping costs low efficiently. EVage’s Industry 5.0-enabled manufacturing facilities currently have the capacity to produce approximately 2,000 vehicles per year. Integrating DG Innovate’s motor technology can increase production further to meet the rising demand for efficient electric trucks in Asia.
India to lead the global EV market
India is making strides in the global electric vehicle (EV) manufacturing industry, as evidenced by the recent collaboration between EVage and UK-based DG Innovate. This partnership aims to enhance India’s EV production capabilities. According to Singh, the focus is not solely on building trucks but on establishing India as a dominant force in EV production and export on the global stage.
EVage, with plans to expand its presence to the top 100 cities in India, is also exploring opportunities for exporting to international markets. The collaboration with DG Innovate, renowned for its EV technologies, underscores EVage’s commitment to utilizing advanced technology to ramp up production.
By employing scalable manufacturing processes and forming strategic global alliances, EVage is striving to position itself as a leader in the ever-evolving EV landscape.
