Shenzhen, China, 17 March, 2025: BYD, the largest electric vehicle (EV) producer globally. Unveiled its groundbreaking “Super e-Platform.” The EV platform features lightning-fast charging functions, sophisticated high-voltage architectures. World-leading battery innovations that will set a new level for the EV experience.
Important Features of the Super e-Platform
- Unrivaled Charging Speed: The site accommodates top charging speeds of 1,000 kW. Enabling cars to cover up to 400 km (249 miles) on a single 5-minute charge. This is twice Tesla’s newest V4 Superchargers. The first megawatt-scale charging power in the EV sector.
- Improved Blade Battery Technology: BYD’s updated Blade Batteries have a 10C charging multiplier. Providing full charge within six minutes. The batteries have been engineered to optimize speed in ion transfer and minimize heat buildup.
- High-Voltage Architecture: On a 1,000V system, the platform alleviates battery stress, optimizes motor performance. Accommodates dual-gun DC charging for accelerated energy replenishment.
Launch of EV Platform Han L and Tang L Models
The inaugural models to emerge on this platform are BYD's Dynasty range flagship Han L sedan and Tang L SUV. These have features of:
- Performance: 1,086 horsepower with 0 to 100 km/h in a little more than two seconds for top of the line versions.
- Pricing: From about 270,000 yuan ($37,300 USD), delivering competitive value on their premium spec.
- Design: Traditional Chinese cultural-inspired interiors with generous space and high-quality materials.
Pre-orders for these models started on March 17 in China, and the company aims to expand worldwide later this year.
BYD's Charging Network Expansion
To supplement the Super e-Platform, BYD has plans to build more than 4,000 ultra-fast charging points in China. This is a major departure from its dependence on third-party networks. Although no investment plan or timeline was revealed. This is likely to solve long-standing issues of charging infrastructure.
BYD Chairman Wang Chuanfu highlighted the mission of the company. By achieving EV charging speeds as quick as refueling gasoline vehicles. "This innovation is a milestone not just for BYD but for the whole EV industry."
Industry Impact and Market Outlook on EV Platform
The Super e-Platform puts BYD squarely at the doorstep of Tesla and other world EV powers. Analysts forecast this innovation to speed up EV acceptance by tackling one of the highest hurdles. BYD's emphasis on high-performance models such as the Han L and Tang L. Solidifies its intent to compete both locally and abroad.
ELCTRIK Speaks
BYD’s sales pace lends itself to this strategy. The firm sold more than 4.2 million cars in 2024 and expects to achieve 5–6 million units in 2025. This launch represents a turning point in the development of electric mobility. Demonstrating how technology can render EVs more affordable and convenient for daily consumers. It introduces a new benchmark for electric vehicles to meet consumer expectations.
