BMW Group India has surpassed a significant milestone by delivering more than 5,000 BMW EV. Making it the first premium car maker in India to achieve this milestone. The development was announced on August 21, 2025. Ushering in a new era for the country’s premium EV market.
BMW EV: Key Features and Product Lineup
The electric lineup of the brand comprises prominent models such as the BMW iX1 Long Wheel Base. Launched at the Bharat Mobility Expo in January 2025, starting at Rs 49 lakh. Some of the top models are the BMW i7, i4, and MINI EV. BMW EVs are designed for luxury and sustainability with:
Long Driving Range and versatile charging capabilities
- Digital Integration: Live charger status and amenity filters through the MyBMW app
- Advanced Safety & Convenience: Smart climate control, battery preconditioning, and a Charging Concierge service for route planning and payment.
BMW EV: High-Power Charging Corridor
To mark the occasion, BMW Group India launched a huge 4,000 km high-power charging corridor. The corridor runs from Jammu to Madurai, with chargers set up every 300 km on highways. In urban cities like Delhi, Jaipur, Ahmedabad, Mumbai, Pune, Bengaluru, Coimbatore, and Madurai. Chargers come in capacities of 120 kW to 720 kW, providing fast and efficient charging for every car model. Through collaborations with Statiq and Zeon, BMW now provides customers with access to over 6,000 public charging points.
BMW EV: Sales Performance
BMW and MINI alone sold 1,322 EVs in India in the first half of 2025. A 234% increase from 2024. Electric vehicles now make up 18% of BMW Group India’s overall sales this year.
