Hero MotoCorp, which has invested in the Indian EV startup giant Ather Energy, is gearing up to launch another manufacturing plant in Chhatrapati Sambhaji Nagar, Maharashtra. This comes roughly 18 months after inaugurating their second plant. The new facility represents an investment of around Rs 2000 crore.
Ather’s new state-of-the-art electric two-wheeler manufacturing facility,will hoist a capacity of 1.0 Million models per annum. The build-up of a third manufacturing plant, will potentialize around 4,000 new job opportunities.
Ather’s new cutting edge electric two-wheeler manufacturing facility will have an annual production capacity of 1 million units. The establishment of this third plant is expected to generate approximately 4,000 new job opportunities.
In a recent development, Former Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister, Mr. Devendra Fadnavis, met with Ather Energy co-founder Swapnil Jain and confirmed that the company’s new plant will be set up in Aurangabad Industrial City (AURIC), now often referred to as Sambhaji Nagar on social media. In his post, the Former Deputy CM also assured that Ather’s new facility will boast a good concentration of battery engineering as well, apart from 1 million sales accomodation.
In an official statement, Ather explained that the new plant’s location will reduce logistics costs and accelerate the delivery of finished products to customers nationwide. This new facility will significantly amplify Ather’s existing production capacity, currently at 420,000 units per annum. Ather inaugurated its second plant in Hosur, Tamil Nadu, in 2022, which boasts a production capability of 300,000 two-wheelers per year. Additionally, the company’s inaugural facility possesses an annual production capacity of 120,000 two-wheelers.
Jain has also announced the progress on social media, stating, We are enthusiastic about our investments in Maharashtra. With our expanding product portfolio and the surging consumer demand for our offerings, we strategically decided to diversify our production capabilities to an additional location closer to more markets within the country.

At this moment, Ather Energy offers two primary models, the sporty 450 series (comprising the 450X, 450S and 450 Apex) and the recently launched Rizta, which is designed for families. The company also operates over 200 experience centers and maintains 1,900 fast charging points across India.
According to official registration data, Ather Energy has sold just under batch of 51,000 scooters in the first half of this year, ranking fourth amongst the highest-selling electric two-wheeler brands in the nation, following Bajaj Auto, TVS Motor Company and the market leader Ola Electric.
