Tata Nexon EV has been gaining popularity in the electric vehicle market, and it is much admired for its design and green credentials. However, discontent at the hands of its tech troubles are emerging, which comes to the fore with regard to the navigation system.
Key Highlights:
- Tata Nexon EVs navigation issues caused a lot of trouble to many of its users.
- Tata Motors is working towards the remedial solutions received from its cutomers.
Infotainment Frustrations
Navigation Failures
Sam Austin, who owns a Nexon EV, says, “Navigation system is a nightmare. It keeps rerouting me out of nowhere, gets really nerve-wracking on long drives.”
According to the users, it is not capable and leads to detours way too often without stating any good reason behind it.
Unresponsive Door Sensor
Users have complained that the infotainment system fails to shut down on opening the driver’s side door, said to be due to a defective door sensor.
One owner testified, “I had to touch the sensor every time I exited the vehicle to stop the infotainment from running unnecessarily.”
Notification Sounds
One owner said, “I brought my car into the dealership for a software upgrade. Since then, there’s this constant noise every couple of seconds. It’s keeping me awake at nights!”
Most users complained that following a software upgrade, some of them experienced persistent notification sounds that they could not mute.
Screen Response Issues
A user stated, “The touchscreen hangs occasionally, which becomes a nuisance when using the navigation or media controls.”
There have also been some complaints about the touch sensitivity. Users noticed various times that the screen fails to respond or freezes while in use.
Connectivity Issue with Bluetooth
A customer wrote, “Sometimes, I really have trouble keeping a Bluetooth connection during calls; it’s really frustrating.”
Some owners complain about unstable Bluetooth connection saying that it sometimes constantly disconnects or doesn’t connect at all.
Air Quality Alerts
Another crucial aspect of the infotainment system is the ear-piercingly loud air quality alerts it flashes during calls or while listening to music.
One user says, “The beeping when air quality drops is so loud that it interrupts my conference calls.”
Tata’s Stand on Infotainment Infrastructure Issues
Tata Motors has also been taking all these piling grievances very seriously. It has accepted all feedbacks received from its clients and has been working towards the remedial solutions on an ongoing basis.
“We take the customer’s feed back seriously and are committed to enhancement of the experience of our customer with our vehicle”, said Rajesh Sethi, Head of Product Development at Tata Motors. “We are developing software updates to address these problems and improve infotainment functionality in general.”
ELCTRIK Speaks
The Tata Nexon EV packs a stylish design with green power, but there remain quite serious challenges with its infotainment system mainly due to the lack of navigation reliability and more related issues, which Tata Motors is committed to sorting out via software updates and improving existing customer service protocols.
