Mahindra & Mahindra is gearing up to launch its new electric SUV lineup starting next fiscal year, with a strong focus on testing its upcoming BE and XUV electric models. The BE.05 electric SUV, in particular, has been in testing for quite some time and numerous spy shots of the camouflaged vehicle have emerged. Recently, a new spy photo revealed the base variant of the BE.05 electric SUV.
Mahindra’s future electric plans prominently feature the BE Electric lineup, which is set to meet international standards. In India, this lineup is expected to rival even premium electric compact SUVs, boosting the indigenous manufacturer’s standing.
At the Bharat Mobility Global Expo, the first model of the BE Electric series, codenamed BE.05, was showcased as a rally edition. This electric coupe SUV, which has been frequently spotted testing on Indian roads, has now been seen in its base-spec version for the first time. This confirms that the model will come in several trims.
Mahindra BE.05 Exterior:
The recently spotted test mule boasts black steel wheels, indicating it’s a base variant. This version also has a new circular headlamp assembly instead of the advanced LED headlamps found in the top-spec variants.
Additionally, the base variant includes a straightforward horizontal day-time-running-light (DRL) unlike the larger L-shaped LED day-time-running-light (DRL) in the higher-end versions. The side profile of the base variant also showcases flush-type door handles.
An interesting feature of the newly spotted test mule is the roof carrier, which enhances the car’s aesthetics. It might be there for testing purposes or it could be an official accessory for the BE.05.
In the top-spec version, the headlamp assembly stands out with a stylish design featuring L-shaped LED day-time-running-light (DRLs), more aerodynamic alloy wheels and a glass roof.
Mahindra BE.05 Expected Features:
The top-end spec is expected to pack and array of features, including a connected panel for 10.25-inch dual-screen setup. One for infotainment and the other for the instrument cluster. A smaller co-passenger’s entertainment screen is also anticipated to be on offer, similar to what we’ve noticed on the the XUV e8 concept.
The BE.05 will also sport a new two-spoke multifunctional steering wheel holding a BE embroided logo. Other highlights could entertain front seats ventilation and electronic adjustment alongwith memory function, a wireless charger, dual-zone climate control, a panoramic sunroof, 12-speaker Sony surround sound system, a heads up display, Adrenox Ai connectivity and for the safety net, availability of advanced driver assistance system (ADAS) level 2 alongside a 360 degree bird view camera.
Furthermore, the BE.05 is projected to be equipped with a battery pack ranging from 60 to 80 kWh, thereby ensuring a substantial driving range.
Elctrik Speaks:
Mahindra is heavily focusing on the electric vehicle market, with the BE series set to be exclusively electric. The company is rigorously testing these forthcoming EVs while maintaining secrecy about their specifications.
Anticipations are high for these vehicles to deliver excellent performance and range, potentially setting new standards in the EV sector. Once launched, the BE.05 will not only cater the market of mid range buyer’s segment but also a segment above.
Talking on the direct rival, the Tata’s Curvv EV will stand head to head with Mahindra’s BE.05.
