Mercedes Benz India has launched the facelift of their mid-size electric SUV EQB. The updated EQB, comes at a revised price tag of Rs 70.90 lakh (ex-showroom). The introduction of Facelift has debuted a new variant with the EQB, therefore the EQB now packs two variants in total. The availability of a new trim now accommodates the EQB with a five-seat configuration.
This variant is named as 350 4-Matic, where the 4-Matic stands for Mercedes Benz’s all-wheel drive (AWD) system. The EQB 350 4-Matic is offered with a price tag of Rs 77.50 lakh (ex-showroom). The other variant which is named as 250+ gets only an option of a seven-seat configuration, which holds a price tag of Rs 70.90 lakh (ex-showroom).The EQB Facelift shares a lot of similarities with its predecessor EQA 250+, especially in terms of overall design and styling aesthetics.
EQB Facelift Design:
In terms of styling, the EQB Facelift’s front fascia resembles to the newly launched EQA 250+ sporting the Mercedes’s signature star pattern grille, which is accompanied by thin day-time-running LED (DRL) placed beneath the bonnet line, connecting both the adaptive bi-projector all-LED matrix headlamps. The rear profile boasts a similar tailgate as the pre-facelifted version, featuring an all-LED connected taillights. The mid-size SUV continues to ride on the alloy wheels, which range from 18 to 19 inches.
EQB Facelift Features:
The cabin of the facelifted EQB remains similar, highlighting a backlit star pattern dashboard with a center console displaying a connected panel for the 10.25-inch fully-digital instrument cluster and a second-generation MBUX operating software (OS) based touch-sensitive infotainment screen. This infotainment screen also possesses wireless Android Auto and Apple Car-Play compatibility along with the connected car technology.
The driver’s cockpit is equipped with a lightweight yet extremely commanded three-spoke multi-functional sporty steering. Both the driver and co-passenger’s seats comes ventilated and operates electronically for the adjustment supporting the memory function. Additionally, the cabin options multi-themed ambient lighting, which runs all across the dashboard layout to the doors. The illumination of ambient light is also evident in the turbine-designed air-con vents.
To keep the inner space suited in comparison to the outer temperature, the EQB utilizes a dual-zone climate control system. Furthermore, elevating the convenience of the passenger the rear space of the car avails the passengers with the comfort of rear air con vents vents, which comes with a temperature-controlled blowers.
Adding to the convenience, the package is comprised of a wireless charging option and a set of 710-watt 12-speakers Burmester sound system. These speakers amplify your sound experience to a different level. For a better watch at the surrounding the EQB also mounts a panoramic sunroof. The tailgate of EQB allows you to load and unload the cargo hustle-free , thanks to the gesture-controlled electronic mechanism.
Affirming an uncompromised safety, Mercedes Benz offers the EQB with advanced driver assistance system (ADAS) Level 2 suite and a 360-degree bird view camera setup.
EQB Facelift Powertrain:
Both the variants of the EQB Facelift, draws power from a similar 70.5 kWh battery pack, though the front-axle mounted single electric motor EQB 250+ delivers a range of 535 Km (WLTP) which is 112 Km more in contrast to earlier. While the EQB 350 4Matic with the dual-motor setup generates a range of 447 Km (WLTP) on a single charge. These trims can charge from 10-80 percent in just about 32 to 35 minutes with the help of DC fast charging.
Fully charging the 350 4Matic trim requires roughly 6 hours and 45 minutes using an 11kW AC charger, while the 250+ trim takes approximately 7 hours and 15 minutes. Mercedes claims a power and torque output of 214.62 kW and 520 W with the dual-motor setup variant.
These figures change for the front-axle mounted single-motor setup, which goes as 139.77 kW and 385 W.
Both the variants of the EQB Facelift hoist a top speed of 160 Kmph. However, where the EQB 350 4-Matic can accelerate 0-100 Kmph in just 6.2 seconds, the EQB 250+ is 2.5 seconds slower with under the duration of 8.5 seconds.

The Verdict:
The EQB is currently alone in the Indian market, positioned above the new EQA in Mercedes’ electric vehicle lineup. It competes with models like the Volvo XC40 Recharge and BMW iX1, offering two variants with different seating and drivetrain options at different prices, giving consumers more choices. Deliveries of the EQB facelift will begin in January 2025 to increase sales. Mercedes is expanding its EV lineup with the recent EQA launch and upcoming electric G-Wagon (G580) next year, expecting good results from these strategic moves.
