Go-Ahead’s Landmark Order of Volvo Electric London Buses
At the beginning of 2025, Go-Ahead, the largest bus operator in London. The city took delivery of 25 Volvo BZL Electric single-deck buses to TfL specification. The electric buses will be in service within a year, sporting London’s traditional red livery of bus designs used since the 1930s.

- Size & Capacity: With a length of 9.7 meters, these single-deckers are designed to fit London’s inner-city streets.
- Power & Range: With four traction batteries with an aggregate capacity of 376 kWh. They have sufficient energy storage for routes every day.
- Regenerative Braking: It recovers energy while braking, improving the overall efficiency of the bus.
- Charging System: Buses will be charged overnight by CCS 2 cables. 150 kW DC chargers at the depots to ensure every day is ready.
