Kanpur, 16 June 2025 — The state government of Uttar Pradesh has made it official with the opening of the Kanpur EV Park. An exclusive manufacturing and innovation complex. To make Kanpur a national leader in the production of electric vehicles. With a Rs 700 crore outlay in investment and a massive 500-acre spread along the Bhimsen location. This project promises to redraw the industrial map of the region and speed India’s clean mobility transition.
Kanpur EV Park: Vision and Scope
The Kanpur EV Park is a flagship project under the Kanpur Metropolitan Development Vision 2030. Strategically placed on the dedicated freight corridor. The park will have direct rail and road connectivity. This will provide timely logistics for raw material as well as finished vehicle transportation to park. The site is close to major urban and industrial hubs. It is likely to draw the major EV manufacturers and component suppliers from the country at large.
Kanpur EV Park: Key Features
- Integrated Manufacturing Ecosystem: The park will be home to units involved in the manufacturing. Such as electric motors, chassis, steel components, lithium-ion batteries, and high-end electronics. The park will save costs, enhance the reliability of the supply chain, and encourage manufacturers to collaborate.
- Advanced R&D Centre: A world-class research and development center will be set up. To lead innovation in vehicle and battery technology, and intelligent mobility solutions. The center will work with academic institutions and international technology partners.
- Support for SMEs and Startups: Specially designated areas for small and medium enterprises (SMEs). Start-ups will offer incubation, access to funding, and technical assistance. It will foster domestic innovation and entrepreneurship.
- Green Infrastructure: The park is planned with sustainability as its driving force. With renewable energy integration, rainwater harvesting, and green waste management systems.
Uttar Pradesh State Industrial Development Authority (UPSIDA) CEO Mayur Maheshwari stated. “Kanpur EV Park is not only a manufacturing center. It’s a driver of a new age of sustainable industrial development for Uttar Pradesh. We are determined to make Kanpur the pulsating heart of India’s electric mobility revolution.”
The Road Ahead
Work on the Kanpur EV Park will commence in Q3 2025. It is expected to be functional with the first phase by late 2026. The park is likely to generate more than 10,000 direct and indirect employment opportunities. It will also draw investments from both domestic and foreign players.
