The move, announced today at a much-hyped event in Mumbai. Represents Jio’s newest venture outside telephony and digital services. Aimed at tapping the nation’s burgeoning need for clean urban transport.
A New Chapter for Jio: The JioCycle One Launch
The Jio E-Cycle, also known as the “JioCycle One”. Aims to provide a smart, tech-enabled, and environmentally friendly commutation option for India’s urban and semi-urban towns. The product will go on sale from June 15, 2025, at Reliance Digital stores. Jio’s online platform, and select partner stores across the country.
JioCycle One Key Features: Smart, Connected, and Practical
- Impressive Range: The JioCycle One has a real-world range of up to 100 km per charge using a lightweight, removable lithium-ion battery. The battery is charged fully in less than 3 hours from a standard home socket.
- Smart Connectivity: The cycle features a 4-inch weather-resistant digital screen. Integrates GPS navigation system, anti-theft tracking. Seamless connectivity to the MyJio app. Riders can track performance, find charging stations, and enjoy Jio’s digital world while on the move.
- Performance and Safety: Powered by a 250W BLDC hub motor, the e-cycle has a maximum speed of 25 km/h. As stipulated by Indian electric bicycle regulations (no license or registration is needed). It comes equipped with dual disc brakes, LED headlamp, and puncture-proof tires for increased safety.
- User-Friendly Design: The cycle provides three modes of riding. Pedal, Pedal-Assist, and Full Electric. To suit varying user requirements, ranging from fitness buffs to daily commuters.
- Affordability: At ₹29,999 (launch offer), the JioCycle One beats everybody else in price. Putting green mobility within reach of students, office-bearers, and delivery personnel.
Mukesh Ambani, Chairman and Managing Director, Reliance Industries, said at the launch, “JioCycle One is not only a product. It’s our promise for the cleaner, greener, and connected India. With the confluence of affordability with smart technology. We want to empower all Indians to adopt sustainable mobility.”
Challenges and Opportunities
While JioCycle One caters to affordability and connectivity, issues persist. Most prominently, scaling up charging infrastructure and after-sales service in the smaller towns. Reliance’s tie-up with Jio-bp for establishing charging and service points is anticipated. To ease these issues over a period of time.
