Key Highlights
Mahindra & Mahindra is getting ready to launch several new vehicles, focusing especially on electric options. The company has been developing two exciting series of all-electric SUVs called the XUV.e and BE series. Recently, they introduced the new five-door Thar Roxx in India, and soon, they’re expected to unveil an electric version of the compact XUV 3XO.
Before that, we might see the BE.05 model, which was recently spotted without cover during a photo shoot. This new SUV will be built at Mahindra’s plant in Chakan, near Pune, and is expected to be launched on November 26, 2024. The BE.05 represents a fresh new design direction for Mahindra and is sure to catch attention on the road with its bold look.
Design Features of the Mahindra BE.05
The Mahindra BE.05 showcases a distinctive design characterized by prominent C-shaped lighting elements and an expansive greenhouse, enhancing the cabin’s airiness. Its sculpted surfaces, aerodynamic body panels, and sporty alloy wheels create a dynamic aesthetic. The design elements include smart door handles, steeply raked windscreens, and wide air intakes, all emphasizing its aggressive stance. The piano black accents on the roof, pillars, claddings, and pronounced wheel arches add to the vehicle’s muscular appearance, while strategically placed bumper trims help manage its overall bulk.
Inside, the Mahindra BE.05 prioritizes advanced technology with a dual-screen setup. One screen is dedicated to instrumentation and the other to infotainment, significantly reducing the reliance on physical controls. This approach streamlines the user interface and elevates the cabin’s modernist visual appeal. Furthermore, aviation-inspired design cues enhance the futuristic ambiance, creating a high-tech environment for drivers and passengers.
The Mahindra BE.05 has a sleek design, measuring 4,370 mm in length, 1,900 mm in width, and 1,635 mm in height. Its spacious wheelbase helps with stability. While it was initially thought to use a Volkswagen electric motor, that option may not be available right at the start, so there could be other options when it launches.
Battery, Range & Price
This SUV will compete with the Tata Curvv EV. It will have a powerful electric motor that produces 231 horsepower and delivers great torque for responsive driving. Mahindra BE.05 offers two battery sizes, a smaller one with a capacity of 60 kWh and a larger one at 79 kWh. Based on standard testing guidelines, the larger battery is expected to allow for a driving range of over 450 kilometers on a full charge.
The Mahindra BE.05 is built using a special platform designed for electric vehicles, ensuring modern features and performance. It is expected to have fast-charging capabilities, likely supporting charging from 20% to 80% within about 20 minutes. Pricing for the BE.05 is expected to range around Rs. 20-25 lakh, making it competitive within India’s premium electric SUV market.
