BYD has introduced a refreshed version of the Seagull EV in China. Launched originally with prices starting at CNY 78,000 (Rs 9 lakh), the Seagull quickly became a major success. The 2025 update now brings a lower starting price of CNY 69,800 (Rs 8 lakh), making it even more appealing.
Design and Dimensions: Subtle Facelift, Familiar Proportions
The 2025 BYD Seagull receives a subtle design update. The front fascia remains unchanged, maintaining the car’s recognizable look. However, the rear now features BYD lettering instead of the “Build Your Dreams” branding. Dimensionally, the Seagull is similar to the Tata Tiago EV, with a length of 3,780 mm, a width of 1,715 mm, a height of 1,540 mm, and a wheelbase of 2,500 mm.

New Trim Levels and Features
BYD has introduced new trim levels with the 2025 Seagull. The base Vitality Edition now comes with 15-inch steel wheels, while the Freedom Edition and Flying Edition feature 16-inch aluminum alloy wheels. Four exterior colors are available: Arctic Blue, Warm Sun White, Polar Night Black, and Peach Pink. Interior color options include Deep Ocean Blue and Dune Pink.
Inside, the feature list remains the same, with a few additions. The Freedom and Flying Editions now include a mobile wireless charger, heated front seats, and electrically adjustable driver’s seats. The 7-inch instrument screen and the 10.1-inch rotatable infotainment screen remain standard.
Powertrain Options and Range
One of the most significant changes in the 2025 BYD Seagull is the new powertrain options. The base Vitality Edition and mid-spec Freedom Edition are equipped with a 30.08 kWh battery, offering a range of approximately 305 km on a single charge. The top-spec Flying Edition comes with a larger 38.8 kWh battery, providing a claimed range of 405 km. The electric motor, driving the front wheels, remains the same, allowing the Seagull to accelerate from 0-50 km/h in 4.9 seconds.
